Dandruff is a socially embarrassing problem. Seemingly harmless, it can wreck self-esteem, and also create havoc on your skin.

Dandruff is actually a skin infection and it can cause numerous problems. One of the first effects of dandruff on face is acne. What you notice as white flakes on your clothes is just part of the story. There are smaller skin particles that float down and clog pores, leading to acne.

Unfortunately, acne isn’t limited just to your face. The infection can start from your hairline, neck, shoulders, back and chest, and sometimes go up to your stomach.

Then there is the other issue of face dandruff. If you see red, inflamed skin on your face, then most probably it is a sign of face dandruff. The infection has progressed from your scalp to your face. Its symptoms characterize a feeling of tightness, dryness, and slight sensitivity to touch. Dandruff on face is often noticed as flakes in the eyebrows or eye lashes.

But what causes dandruff in the first place? Not brushing your hair properly and thoroughly, over use of hair products or use of inferior quality ones, bad shampooing habits, dry skin, overwork and a wrong diet can all be triggers for dandruff.
