Beyond Madras – at the dinning room is a part of Park Hyatt hotel which promises serving authentic Tamilnadu cuisine from the grandma’s kitchen.
I was welcomed with a Vanakkam by saree and panchakacham clad. The lighting and ambiance were really good and perfect for dinner dinning. Once I comfortably sat on the place allotted for me, Mr. Animesh Maiti – Assistant Manager – The Dining Room, came and explained the whole concept behind Beyond Madras.
The menu of Beyond Madras contains various items right from the welcome drink to desserts with authentic homemade touch. The menu is fixed as in no a la carte option but the items are served at the table and can be served again if requested. Another fantastic thing is, the menu gets changed every week.
The first item served was homemade signature bread accompanied with spicy chutney. The bread seemed out of place considering the entire concept nevertheless tasted good
Sherbet – Welcome drink
Nannari, paanakam, rose milk and butter milk are the options available. I tried the nannari sherbet which is a stable drink during summers at my home and quiet liked it.
Ragi panniyaram, kaalan milagu piratal and kozhi milagu yellu varuaval are the items served. No complaints here and gulped all of them 🙂
Kaikari servai, karamani pacha thakali vathakal, vendaikai puzhi kulambu, pattani thakkali kulambu, keerai vadhakal, kongu nattu kozhi kolambu, kothukari masla are the items served. Being a non-vegetarian food lover, I could not comment much on the veg curries but from whatever I have tasted, liked the puzhi kulambu much.
Kongu nattu kozhi kolambu and kothukari masla were cooked well and went well with the main course.
Clay pot specialty
Sankara meen kozhambhu was the special item. That combined with the piping hot white rice was just awesome.
Aapam, vellai chola dosai, airisi idiyapam, parotta are the options available. Again no complaints here. All the breads went well with the curries provided. The coconut milk served for the aapam is the thickest I have ever tasted in my entire life 😛
Karuvepillai sadham , thayir sadham and apart from these, white rice is also available
Vattapalam, elaneer paysam, panchamirtham, beyond madras filter coffee icecream are the dessert options. In every buffet, dessert is what we always wait for. No difference here and I can say one of the best desserts options I have tried so far. Except panchamirtham, I have managed to taste all the other items. They are just unique, one of a kind items which will make your tummy and heart happy at the end of the awesome meal 🙂
Well the desserts are not the end here. They also serve authentic madras filter coffee and panakarkandu milk. My tummy was almost giving up with no space but Animesh made sure that I at least have one sip of these beverages 🙂
Total cost – 1350 + tax
I am totally satisfied with the food and service at Beyond Madras. The hospitality and value for money spread at a star hotel makes it a must visit for everyone 🙂
